The Victory War Memorial is situated on the Beach Road near island ground at the beginning of Marina Beach. It was built to honour the memory of soldiers who died during the two world wars. Also known as Cupids Bow, marble rock and a circular structure have been built here in the memory of soldiers.

A war memorial is a building, monument or statue in order to commemorate those who passed away during a war. Earlier, the war memorials were erected to celebrate great victories, while remembering the dead were not so important. However, in modern times, war memorials are built to honour those who have died, and not mainly to glorify war. Now Chennai has been an administrative, political and military hub since the 1st Century and India is a land where martyrs, people, who readily laid down their lives to serve their motherland. To honor and to pay respect to these brave hearts, a war memorial is built so that the citizens may be proud of their heroes.

Victory War Memorial was constructed in the memory of allied armies who lost their lives in World War I. It then became a memorial for World War II. It commemorates the sacrifices made by soldiers of the Madras Presidency in service to the British Crown.

Now, inscriptions from the 1948 Kashmir Aggression, 1962 War with China, Indo-Pak War and Kargil Operation have been added there. The Memorial is constructed in marble and there is also a circular rock where earlier the coastal belfry was built. Customary homage is paid to the martyrs by the Armed Forces during Army Day,Infantry Day, NCC Day, Navy Day and Vijay Diwas.

Victory War Memorial is located to the south of Fort St. George and marks the beginning of the 13-km-long Marina beach. It is a circular rock and marble structure built in the area that formerly housed the coastal belfry. Tourists can see a circular rock and a marble structure in the war memorial.
