The Puthenmalika Palace, the residence of the Rajas of Travancore, is located in the southern part of Thiruvanathapuram, the state capital of Kerala, and it will make an impact on all its visitors.

As the name implies it is a hub of magnificent collection of royal exhibits and apart from the collections, the palace building itself is a very splendid structure.

It is the outcome of the hard work and perseverance of about five thousand laborers. They toiled continuously for five years to complete the palace building. Exceptional architectural skills displayed here are incredible.

One of the most striking features of this two hundred year old Palace Museum is the elegance of carved wooden ceiling and the presence of marble sculptures and imported Belgian glass.

The collections include Kathakali images, an armory, the portraits of maharajas, ornate thrones and other antique artifacts. The admission to this palace incorporates an edifying one-hour guided tour.

Visiting hours: 0830 – 1300 hrs & 1500 – 1730 hrs. Closed on Mondays
