Lakkidi is one of the highest locations in Wayanad situated 700 m above mean sea level atop Thamarassery Ghat Pass.

It is one of the richest biodiversity regions in Western Ghats and the picturesque views here are mind blowing and breath taking. The towering peaks, murmuring brooks, flourishing flora, deep blue valleys and snaky roads are incredible.

It is a true rainforest region having Koppen highland climate said to be the Chirapunjee of Kerala getting the heavy rainfall annually is bounded by marvellous meadows and chilled hills is blessed with presence of Pookot Lake a natural fresh water lake, one of the rare reservoirs of water in Wayanad.   

Lakkidi

The travel to Lakkidi covering nine hairpin curves from downhill is a life time experience to a tourist and also adventurous.

A chain bound Ficus Tree that associates the legend of a tribal youth first martyr of Wayanad named Karinthandan who helped British Engineer to make a passage through the forests of Wayanad is a major attraction here

Lakkidi View Point is also amazing as it gives profound view of valleys and cliffs. It is also emerging as a popular hill destination with many luxurious resorts and plantation providing accommodation to foreigners and other wealthy tourists.
