Major Tourist Destinations In Malappuram.

Malappuram means land at top hills. This district is enriched by three great rivers flowing through it – the Chaliyar, the kadalundi and the Bharathapuzha. Rich and evergreen forests, ravines hills and deals, rivers and brooks, sandy surfs and palm fringed coasts, festive moods- the district preserves the cultural wealth of past. There are many tourist destinations in Malappuram.

The Jammat mosque:

This is an important pilgrim center of the Muslims. The four day annual festival at the mosque is the mausoleum of the Malappuram Shaheeds (martyrs) whose brave exploits have been immortalized in the Mappila ballads.

Nilambur:

This the original home of the Cholainaickans, the old east aboriginal tribe of Kerala. The extensively forested area is famed for the world’s oldest teak plantation and bamboo woods.

Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary:

Over a hundred varieties of native birds and over 60 varieties of migratory birds flock here in large numbers. The hillock provides a splendid view of the river mount and the sea.

Adayanpara:

Adayan para is famous for its waterfalls and splendor of its lush jungles.

Kottakkal:

This small town is home to the famed Kottakkal Arya Vaidyasala, One of the pioneer institutions of Ayurveda. The Arya Vaidyasala urns a Ayurvedic research center, a nursing home and a hospital.
